Connection Issue.

Hello,

I recently changed computers and can't seem to get alt.binz to connect. Just seems to flash on and off quickly with a connection saying "full" I can't read the rest either. OS Is windows 7 x64bit. Provider is Internode.

I would appreciate any help or a heads up on posts already explaining a remedy.

Note: I did spend a while trying to find the same issue, but to no success.

 i would suggest turning on detailed logging to file (settings->log). then post the part of the log that is coresponding to the time your problem occurs.

Are you sure you don't have to authenticate to server?

Not that i'm aware of. I did the exact same as what I did on my last computer. Had the same OS. Room mate also went through my settings and checked. He can't find the issue either. =/

Yeah still using. I haven't changed any thing except for the tower it's self. I tried disabling firewalls/virus scanners. Didn't change.

Best way I can describe it is. It's connecting then dropping straight away and it just keeps doing that over and over again quickly.

Just milling over the small things. It wouldn't have any effect with what browser I open with initially would it. I'm still using firefox as I did before.

Just opening the file with alt.binz once the download popup shows.

I have used Altbinz with astraweb for close to 2 years now never having any issues that i have been unable to fix on my own. Searching for help, google, different FAQ's and forums have always helped me to work my issues out. However After Altbinz kept crashing on me I reinstalled now I cannot stay connected what so ever. Like its connecting, then retrying over and over and over, has been doing this for days now. Have searched high and low for any sort of help, landing me here to actually post and ask. Please any suggestions?

For some reason AltBinz is downloading the articles but retrying them immediately after without the expected Article Not Found errors.  You seem to have 3 astraweb servers configured there. Try to isolate the problem by just enabling one at a time, just use a couple of threads to make debugging easier, try without SSL etc.

This is assuming that the problem is the same with all NZBs and not just one.

I have tried several nzb's. I also just got thru trying non ssl, tried going down to one server, 1 connection, tried sevral connection. have tried tinkering with names/password and such. Nothing seems to work though. Could this be something to do with Charter at all? maybe blocking any action or connection with these servers? Thank you for you response before, and i want to thank you for all future help.

Your Log suggests that it is connecting fine, can find the articles, tries to download them but fails without a clear error message, so connects to your backup servers and retries them - it's not clear to me why.

A few more things to try: disable your AV and any firewall temporarily; try another client to see if Alt.Bin is the problem; try on another network connection if you can.

I'm hestitant to say: donate and try the latest version without knowing the actual problem, but Alt.Binz has changed a lot since 0.25.0.

I did try a few other clients to see if it was the issue but turns out they all have the same Issue.

As silly as it was it Turned out to be Avast. I was under the impression I diabled it, but a new feature which I wasn't aware of was blocking them under shield preferences.

Hello Again,
Well I have had luck. I just did a "system restore" back to the factory setting and the problem is fixed. Very Very glad it is working now, as well as glad and thankful for your help/input. about a year and a half ago i did attempt to "donate"/upgrade to a newer release but from what i remember i was unable to get to the donate page itself for some odd reason. I have to admit I didn't put alot of effort into doing it then mainly because i didn't have any issues at the time and did not want to "fix" something that was not broke. After this and this site in general and posts ive read i am very interested in getting an updated version of altbinz. From knowing how sweet this "free" version, how awesome it works and the fact that between 0.25.0 and now i could only imagine how much it has evolved. I am excited to use it and am hoping it is far more advanced. Thank You again for Your time with me!
