This is a Firefox thing, but - when I click an NZB a save file dialog box pops up. If I tick the open with AltBinz option then tick Do this automatically - shouldn't it do it automatically and not force me to click OK from then on? Ticking or not ticking this box does not make any difference, I must always click OK.

I double checked my Firefox settings  (options-options-applications) and NZB is indeed set for AltBinz.

Win7 x32
Firefox 5.0
AltBinz 39.2

So, under Options > Applications, do you have an entry for application/x-nzb (and probably also text/nzb), and does it say 'Always Ask' or 'Save' under Action? Does this behaviour vary between sites?

The header "Content-Disposition: attachment" can produce this issue, see here for the reason and the solution.

download "download statusbar" from addons and then set nzb to auto dissapear in the options. then just set it to save to your downloads folder everytime and have alt.binz monitor that folder. then when you click on an nzb, no download window pops up, it goes away and auto deletes after alt.binz imports it. one click only solution

Thanks for both suggestions. Firefox is already setup correctly to open NZB files under uptions, it just doesn't do it.

I do use download statusbar, but didn't configure it as suggested. I love the out of the box thinking, but it seemed a little more convoluted than just preventing websites from forcing the dialog box (which turns out to be what's happening). I finally decided to install the plug-in "InlineDisposition". It immediately fixed the problem without touching any settings.

Am I right in thinking that configuring DLstatusbar as suggested necessitates AltBinz to already be open, i.e. clicking an NZB in Firefox won't start AltBinz if it isn't running? That one thought was just enough to have me keep looking and eventually find my final solution (with Hecks help).

Thanks again for everyone's help. If any issues pop up with InlineDisposition I will use the DownloadStatusbar trick.

WOW this worked for me I was wondering why my nzb's didnt auto open anymore.. googled.. saw this and I went into Firefox option and under Application I looked for NZB and I saw that it had changed it to save file.. I clicked on the drop down box and there was an option that said use Altbinz.exe so I picked that and it is back to auto opening thank you so much for this it was driving me crazy
