Title: Doesnt connect to Port 80 nggroups-provider
Post by: Pim.Orchid on December 21, 2011, 12:20:17 pm
Hi,

all SSL port are working BUT 80 and 81.

the problem is, that during daytime 1pm-midnight my inet provider slows my connection to 80-120. but all port 80 traffic is still high 10MB

i tried UNZBIN, here port 80 and 81 are working fine.

But i would like to use alt.binz, i like it more and it has more features.

what can i do to get port 80 with altbinz working?

firewall on/off doesnt change anything.

thx

Double check firewall settings.
I'm 100% sure it's not alt.binz fault (I'm using it right now with Astra on port 80)

Hi,

yes i am sure that SSL is checked, and SSL is working with all the other ports without any firewall modifications.

i have the standard MS-firewall nothing special.

I also experienced this issue and am just posting my observations about it.

If I attempted to connect via Port 80 using SSL, Alt Binz would freeze and require a forced close.

I believe this behaviour is caused by my ISP using a transparent proxy.  I'm in Thailand, and the ISP proxy causes unexpected data to be included in the handshake on port 80, preventing connection.  However, if I first connect to a VPN and then connect via AltBinz, it avoids the ISP proxy and AltBinz now works perfectly on port 80 with SSL, but only when using a VPN.   Therefore if anyone experiences this issue, it may be due to an ISP transparent proxy providing unexpected data when attempting to connect on port 80.
