donated and upgraded, but, altbinz now not working

I have donated after using the 0.25 version of altbinz for a little while and then through the contributors only link I downloaded the upgrade 0.27.2 version. Since then it has stopped working. The icon on the desktop has changed and no nothing opens from it. Can anyone help

You need to replace the 0.25.0 .exe with the 0.27.2 one in the same folder - just copy it across.

Alternatively, just copy the new .exe into a new folder, and double-click on it from there.  Alt.Binz will create a fresh set of folders and files for you, and you'll need to re-enter your settings.

I decided to uninstall and reinstall the 0.27.2 version independently from the previous version and its downloaded now ok. I have re-enterd everything using the quick start guides again,but, now, the downloading of articles has got complicated, it is not going straight into altbinz download folder as before and I have not been able to download

Are you using Vista, and did you install it in the Program files directory?  Then Alt.Binz will create folders in your User directory. 

The more information you can provide in your posts, the easier (and quicker) it will be to troubleshoot your problem.  Please keep an eye on your Log and post any relevant messages as well.

Using windows xp and sorry to sound like an idiot,but I admit I'm a bit of a novice and I am not sure where it downloaded to I generally let the computer choose best place. The shortcut is on the desktop now but when i click on it gives me the message that it's the free version although it's showing 0.27.2 and I have just put in all of the things required as directed by quick start guide and now all of those settings have gone from it

If it shows everytime you start, then there is a problem with saving config file. Where exactly is exe located?

It doesn't sound like your shortcut is actually pointing to the 0.27.2 version of Alt.Binz, but to your original 0.25.0 version (see the version number in the window caption and About button).  Make a new shortcut.  To find anything on Windows, use Start > Search.

window and about verified it is 0.27.2 I have now and the other problem of showing it differently has now stopped for some reason.  It is showing as located in program files. I will give it all another go. Thanks

Can't explain why all of the problems,but ok now. Can tell you that the complication with the article download was to do with the file itself and having chosen that one to try things didn't help.
