altbinz halts windows vista help?
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:49:48 am »
Greetings everyone. I've been using alt binz 0.25.0 on windows vista business, service pack 2, q9550 2gb ram. i changed the download directory of one of my download files to c:\windows\addins. I would like to know is there any chance that windows will halt or crash if i download to this directory or if this setting negitively effects my os. I wasnt available at  the computer at the some so i could not view the log file. Thank you for your assistance in advance.

I'm not sure, but it could be that windows dir is UAC restricted, so you cannot write to it. Why would you put download dir inside windows dir?

I've got UAC turned off, but I can ditch anything I like within the Windows folder without having any trouble (as long as you don't overwrite anything you should be ok).
But indeed I don't see why you want your download folder to be there (unless you want to download stuff better kept hidden).

yes my videos n games get deleted so i resorted to hiding it there. Thing is ive done it b4 n nothing happened. and sum1 saw where i was downloading to and said i crashed vista because of that. i wasnt there to see it of course and i dont see how putting a rar file into addins folder can cause windows to crash. lol and i want to clear my name :)
