Title: download speed
Post by: shaun43uk on August 02, 2009, 02:26:52 pm
Hi all

hopefully someone can help clear up a bit of confusion, I currently subscribe & pay for a 30Mb download speed from hitnews, I have added their 2 ssl servers & 2 std servers into altbinz v25.0 so 1 primary server and 3 back ups, when I download a movie the meter in the bottom left of altbinz is registering upto 6100Kbs. I currently have the 50Mb Internet  service from Virgin media

my question is, is this a true speed, I have noticed when downloading, that altbinz is connecting with more than one of the servers, so in effect giving me more than the 8 connections I should be getting,

I'm not complaining or anything, if 6100Kbs is a true speed then its a bonus. I was just hoping someone could explain it for me as I'm no expert.

Cheers
Shaun

KB/s or Kb/s? The first would mean around 6 MB per second equaling about 48 Mbit the second meaning about 750 KB per second or 6 Mbit...  asuming all hitnews servers have equal retention adding the 3 servers as backup is rather senseless or maybe even counter productive...
