Downloaded files are not named as expected
« on: July 19, 2024, 01:26:09 pm »
Hi,
When downloading, most (but not all) files are named like part of their yenc code.

e.g. ..\AltBinz\[NZB name]\7b17f70d975c9baf8153b922d3acc6df22c79e5fad4fe1f085fd4b5128bce09f.mkv

I have checked the option "create subfolders based on NZB/root node name", still, many files I have to rename manually to a usable name from the file list/NZB.
Is there an option I'm overlooking?
regards,
F

If there was unraring involved then yes - setup->unrar->auto rename video file to collection name

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, there was unraring involved, and I activated the option you proposed.
Unfortunately, the result is the same, all files are named in something that looks like hex code.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just have no idea, what that is.

Sorry for replying to an old thread.

I have "Auto rename video file to collection name" checked, too.
Sometimes (more and more frequently lately) I end up with an obfuscated video filename.

i.e. c920WboQhd1mulYeO87FtIYjrVLNee1c.mkv

It seems to be NOT the result of a RAR archive, but a single file. (These files appear in my DOWNLOAD folder, not the folder where RARs are unpacked to)

I tried attaching an NZB as an example, but it's too big.

"Auto rename video file to collection name" options is under unpack options. So, it refers only to things getting unpacked. As you've said 'c920WboQhd1mulYeO87FtIYjrVLNee1c.mkv' is in nzb file as a single file, not packed. So, nothing to unpack - nothing to rename.

BTW, terrible nzb. No small par2 file, missnamed volume recovery files, video file that has no clear name, but volume files, although not properly named, have a clear release name. Not much else could have gone wrong there :)

Thanks for checking.  I am encountering this type of NZB file more and more frequently over the past few weeks.

I can usually predict that a file is going to be a problem (and require manual renaming) when Alt.Binz reports that an NZB has a total of 8 files (7 PAR, 1 video).

Also, Alt.Binz seems to download every single PAR file, even when the video file doesn't need repair... ?

As I'v said - terrible post. Missnamed volume par2 files - they are not detected as volume files by alt.binz

I hate to say it, but this terrible format may become more common for certain groups / indexers.  I've sampled NZBs from a few places over the past few days, and it's prevalent.

From what I've read, SABnzbd had to add built-in deobfuscation to its configuration: "Deobfuscate final filenames".

Maybe a future build of Alt.Binz could pull the filename from the NZB name, or the name of the PARs...
