NZB Player???
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:08:01 am »

Not sure what this option is for?

Is it for a media player?

If so, which one is recommended?

thanks!

yes thats for the mediaplayer that should be used to automatically play the temporary mediafile which is created through nzbplay. i've had good experience with the vlc player (xp+vista) and kmp (only xp but there slightly better for my taste because you don't get asked wether you want it to repair the avi-index as the vlc does)

Thanks for the quick reply, I wasn't aware that you could playback 'Temp' files, can you elaborate on how this is done?

There's no information listed on the WiKi, just an empty entry.

Code: [Select]

In the download-queue press before you start downloading the collection. the collecton will be written in blue instead of black.make sure all the rars are in the corect order (rar, rar.00 rar.01...) then start the download.if the collection has a supported media-file in it, it will apear in your dl or unrar folder (they are the same folder, the way i do it). basicly mediaplayers should be able to play it,some still don't, anyway vlc does the job. this only works as long as no repair is needed.

do as davidq666 described. Note: the player will start after the first rar has been decoded

NZB Play with 0.27.1 (or newer) is much easier as it was in 0.25.0:
Just set the path of the player.
Choose a collection an press NZBplay.
It doesn't matter if you are already downloading or not and sorting rars will be done automatically.

KMPLayer is now by far my favourite player for this option - quick, clean and stable:

do this step by step:

0. set player path in setup -> nzbplay
1. stop downloading
2. import nzb
3. select that collection and open it
4. sort rars inside the collection: rar must be first then r00, r01 etc. (or first part01.rar, part02.rar etc. )
5. select the collection and press nzb play (collection name is now blue)
6. start downloading it

as soon as the first rar is downloaded the player will start playing.

that will work for rarfiles containing .avi or .mkv, but not with dvds

Note: it will only work until you get a corrupted or incomplete rar file. Then you have to repair it after the download is complete.

I have followed the steps as outlined including sorting the archives in sequential order eg

r00
r01

and also the combination

r00
rar
r01

using VLC, this fails to open, am I using the current build or an older version?

you are using 0.25.0

the correct order is

rar
r00
r01
...

and you have to do it exactly in the order written above.

After VLC starts ther will be an error message something about "Repair". Just press no and it will start

Excellent it works now and it's a great feature.

As you can see I seem to using an older build, I did try to download the latest version but the build I am using is only available as an installer.

Can you tell me where the 'latest build' v0.27.2 is available to download for testing?

BTW I do have a 'memory access violation' error which results in a BSOD with WinXP SP2, this only occurs when I use the search engine facility to make NZB's.

I had hoped this bug was fixed in a newer build.

thanks!

[EDIT]

Been told on the IRC channel that I need to make a donation to upgrade for the current build
