Green highlighted rss but not adding to queue
« on: August 12, 2008, 10:57:42 am »
This was working, but after playing with the setup i can't seem to get it to work right again.

I'm using nzbrus, setup seems fine because it lists files, and even has highlighted a matching filter in green, but i'm sure its been highlighted for hours, but has not added it to the queue ?

Any ideas ?

maybe you need to "login" to nzbrus in order to download nzbs?
that would mean results are green but alt.binz can't add them.

also did you try to clear the list an press timer again? only new items are added to your queue

Yep, IIRC you need to add cookie info to the RSS url, similar to Newzbin:

https://www.altbinz.net/wiki/Using_RSS_Feeds_and_Filters#Newzbin_RSS_.26_Cookies

The site should have details of the auth info required for direct downloading from RSS.  If not, ask their support.

Something seriously bonkers has happened to nzbrus since i had it working once upon a time.
First, i would have sworn i set it up right before - however if i didnt i've gone to resetup it up and when i issue the javascript:document.cookie
command, i'm getting information i've never seen before - this info contains the following (edited certain values in case its sensitive):

uid=<>; pass=<>; [other stuff]

WTF ?

I can't even get Nzb.org feed to work and that doesn't require login at all ...

??

Yes it does, in common with all RSS feeds that require a login for direct downloading from the feed.  Viewing the feed is another matter.  This makes sense if you think about it: sites that require registration and/or payment wouldn't have RSS feeds at all unless they could be matched to a user account.

Login and click the RSS link at the bottom of the page, that will give you the info you need to add to the RSS url.

e.g.:

Quote
• Add this string to your feed URL to allow NZB downloads without logging in: &i=<ID>&h=<hash>
• To change the default link to download (with above): &dl=1

For nzbsrus, try just adding to your RSS url:

:COOKIE:uid=<yourUID>;pass=<yourPASS>

OK - got nzbrus working - the other stuff confused the hell out of me.

And with nzb.org, it says "Add this string to your feed URL to allow NZB downloads without logging in:", so i thought it meant you dont need a login...

Anyway, i'm happy nzbrus is working again.

Thanks

Strictly speaking, all that's required is for Alt.Binz to pass the cookie with your registered user/pass details to the site (which is how the site checks whether you're "logged in").  The :COOKIE: string should work with every site that needs authentication for RSS downloading, you just need to know what's in the site cookie.

Anyway, glad this was sorted. :)
