Status XML Missing
« on: December 04, 2007, 04:22:24 pm »
I am running Alt.Binz 0.25.0 under Vista X64 and I have enabled the option to generate an XML status file.

I have added downloads to Alt.Binz. No XML File
I reloaded it. No XML File
I changed it's install directory and ran it as Administrator. No XML File
I ran it on a Vista X86. No XML File

Is there some kinda bug in the free version that I am not aware of?

Just search for "altbinz_status.xml" (guess its the same as in 0.25.0) in all (thus also hidden) folders and wait for any results.

Two possibilities. Either in root of the altbinz folder or in userdata/altbinz folder.

The present location of the application due to the fact that it's a 64 bit OS is: C:\Program Files (x86)\AltBinz

I have also attempted showing hidden and system files.

Also on a side note I installed it to C:\AltBinz thinking that maybe the application was unable to handle the (x86) portion of the Program Files path.

Then status.xml file is where misc dir is (user dir/appname). If you don't like that kind of behaviour and you ARE SURE that you're running altbinz.exe with administrative privilegies move content of user_dir/appname to C:\Program Files (x86)\AltBinz . If you for some reason cannot locate your user_dir/appname then all you have to do is create misc dir in C:\Program Files (x86)\AltBinz . Next time you run altbinz.exe with misc dir present in its root, that directory will be used instead of user_dir/appname. Once again, make sure you run altbinz.exe as administrator.

That did it!

It was in my User Directory under: "\Appdata\Local\Alt.Binz"

Thank you for your help.

I am currently using the XML to generate the output data for an external LCD.
