Title: figuring out your server address

I feel like a fool because I know this is a basic question, but how do I figure out what my server address is? I tried the IP address number and the DNS servers number but both don't seem to be getting me connected. Firewall knows to allow the program to run so I am assuming that this is my problem with the address. I have T-Com here in Germany. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.
