im trying to fetch the groups from hitnews and its just flashing "connecting" and "fetching from groups" really fast, iv tried putting my login and password in the server setup, yes i pressed apply lol still not connecting though, please help 
You do know that the fetched groups will only show up in the newsgroups tab? if it's still empty after lets say 5 min contact hitnews support. maybe hitnews doesn't support xpat any more... xennews doesn't support is.
fetching the groups in the search tabs has nothing to do with hitnews and is done otherwise
if you want to check if pw and accountname arre correct double-click the hitnews-server in settings.
