Very Confusing

Hello. I have downloaded al.binz and set it up.

I have connected to my newsreader and downloaded a list of available newsgroups from them... i have chosen my favourites.. but for the life of me i do not know how to view the articles from the group i have chosen?
How to i browse the articles?

Theres a button at the top that says "newsgroups" and in there is the favourite newsgroup i have picked.. what now?

please help thankyou.

I remember stopping using alt.binz a while ago because i couldn't figure this out.. whereas most newsreaders just let you do it with ease.

hmm well no it doesn't help actually.

all it says is:

    * This tab is only for selecting groups for XPAT search.
    * This is not header downloading!

How am i meant to download a list of articles from the newsgroup i added as a favourite? and then browse em?

Well, perhaps you should read the whole Wiki.

Alt.Binz doesn't dopwnload headers from groups, it only handles NZBs and search results from integrated search engines. Xpat is a special server-side search that's only supported by certain providers - and in any case isn't something you should use often if at all.  So you can completely ignore the Newsgroups tab.

Instead, use one of the search engines.  Newzleech, Binsearch, aEton allow you to browse groups.  Follow the Wiki for instructiosn, but in brief: Newzleech -> click Search button once to retrieve group list -> pick group from dropdown list -> click Browse button.

The real power of Alt.Binz lies in searching rather than browsing, though.  Because you don't have to fetch the headers for each group, you can search across all indexed groups in an instant.

You'll soon get the hang of it.  If not, there are plenty of other clients out there.
