How to get alt.binz to work properly on Mac via Crossover?
« on: August 10, 2008, 03:41:11 pm »
Hi,

I've used alt.binz for a while on Windows, but just switched to a Mac and am struggling to get everything set up properly.  I'd initially used the installer version of 0.25 and it mostly worked -- my problem arises after contributing and now trying to use 0.28.1.

Because I used the installer for 0.25, Crossover (ie. Wine for Macs) was able to create a virtual Mac program for it, which I was able to associate with NZB files.  With 0.28.1, it runs as a standalone app, and Crossover lets me run it, but won't create the Mac version of it, so I can't assign NZB files to it.

I thought to try just dropping in the newest .exe file -- I looked for where Crossover stores the installed files, but I can't find them anywhere, so I'm unable to do this as well.

I really want to use the latest version of my favorite program on my new Mac, so I'm hoping someone out there can help, thanks!

Quickest way should be for you to find where altbinz.exe 0.25 is located and just overwrite it with new 0.28.x exe.
