Newbie here - slow download speed??
« on: September 06, 2011, 08:31:13 pm »
Ok so Im new to using newsgroups, always used torrents. I didn't think my ISP provided newsgroups, but I just found out that they do. When Im downloading files, the maximum speed seems to be 65 kb\s.. I can add 2 threads and that ups my speed to about 200 kb\s but I cant get any faster than that. Is there something I have to do to get faster speed? I tried setting the maximum download limit to 99999999 in setup but it didnt do anything. Any help here? Sorry for the newbie question....

I guess I just need to keep trying to add threads right? I actually have 5 threads going now and the download speed just jumped up to 300 kb\s now... So I just try to keep adding as many threads as possible????

It could be that your provider is limiting speed per thread, but it could be also possible that your AV/Firewall is scanning nntp traffic (you should disable that, cause it slows down your speed)

Poor way to solve the problem. 65KB/s per thread is really slow.

With premium providers you need 4-8 threads to fill up to 30mbits.

Yeah I'll just stick with my ISP though... I'll just have to wait a little longer for downloads...
