RSS Help

I read thru Hick's very helpful quides and had a couple of questions on the RSS feed option.

I set up alt.binz and added the url to the url box. Refreshed and got a listing of the files available. I then right clicked on one of the files and got the dialog box with the "Add to Que - CTL+D" and clicked on that. Then nothing happens.

It could be the format of the RSS Feed, but I am not for sure. The description within Alt.Binz is all compressed together and all the information is within the description.

What am I doing wrong? I have attached a screen shot so you can see what it looks like. Hopefully you can make it out. Here's the Screen shot:

The RSS-part is commonly for the unattended downloads.

You've setup the filterpart first?
Click on the filter tab.

After you've set your filters for subjects of your choice, you need to click on the "Timer" button, than the whole start working.
Every other tab should be grayed out now.
It takes some time before downloads are started.

I see that newzbin is your RSS source, and I think they need cookies i.e. a login identity to allow you to download nzbs from their feed / site. AFAIK alt.binz doesn't support this, so newzbin.com doesn't know who you are.

I had EXACTLY the same behaviour when I used the RSS feed from nzbs.org and a quick chat in their forum highlighted the cookie issue.

Plus as well the default action in the RSS feed needs to be "download". You can test this by previewing the feed in Bloglines or similar.

PS I have only being using the RSS feature for a few weeks so I could be totally wrong

Thanks all. I will give that a try, the filter and timer and try another nbz source.

I do know that News.binz does require log in on their website, but I am very new with RSS and the feeds associated getting the nbz's.
