Hi,
I recently upgraded my winrar to the latest to 3.7  and I don't know if that is the problem but the 2 latest downloads I have done have been unable to repair and one to unrar.
I found that in both cases another rar file was in the set that was marked with an x at then end and the one before it was the same number but no x. So I am presuming it is the repaired rar by the poster or Whomever. In the file list with the post that file is not there. ( the one with the x.
I have had to go use quickpar and winrar myself even though I have those enabled in the altbinz. I also hads to delete the file of the same number without the x to complete the unraring.
I don't know if I have just run into two files that are corrupt anyway or??
One question I have, is the par2 and winrar right in the altbinz software or does it use what is in ones computer.
It happened to 2 in a row it I am wondering if the new winrar I installed is  causing it? I have my doubts though as it has worked on others.
Any ideas??

No, Alt.binz uses its own PAR2 processing, and the unrar.dll that's in the misc folder, so you shouldn't worry about your Winrar install.  Alt.binz appends an 'X' to duplicates, so it's likely that it has downloaded more than one copy for some reason (or you have :P).  Your detailed log should give you more information about exactly what was downloaded, when and why.

I only experience this problem occasionally when I run out of space on my download drive (d'oh!), and need to change dl folders and things get a bit foobared (my fault, usually).  Deleting the original and removing the 'X' from the copy usually shifts it.

Thanks for the input. Just recently switched to altbinz and still learning it.
I had already closed the program so there was nothing in my log to show why it reproduced a second file.
I was able to fix the other file by deleting one of the rars that doubled up but it didn't work on the other one. I ran my own par 2 and it renamed the file with the x and then it was OK.
I noticed that was wasn't the small par 2 file with this one. They were both small limited dvdr releases so maybe the original file was  a bit off.

It happened again. I am downloading an nzb to altbinz so I am not downloading the file again. Altbinz is doing it on its own. I went to the log and it only showed the last 2 rars only. In my setup it is only set to show last 200 lines(default). Can that be changed to read it all?
Also I have tons a room on my hard drive so that isn't the problem either.
I couldn't remove the X this time . It wouldn't let me so I changed to .1 and deleted the first file and it was OK.
But how can I correct this so it doesn't happen??

We do need to know what your log says.  If you've checked the Setup > Log > 'Log to file' option, your logs should be saved to the Altbinz/log directory.

You'll note the lack of other users reporting this as an issue in the forum ... but I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it.

I didn't check in the directory. Just the program log.
I am looking now. I did fix the file so I can't remember which rar it is. hehe
I looked thru a lot of the log file and can't figure out which it was .
How do I send you this log file.
Copy and paste the whole thing or can I send it another way??

Well, just paste the relevant bits here, but if you can't remember which those are, lol ... perhaps it's best just to wait until it happens again.

You can always upload the whole text file to a site (not here), post the link and someone may find a few spare moments to look at it for you.  Otherwise, until next time. :)

Sounds good. I did go thru it a bit and couldn't find anything but again not really sure which one it was.
I put a post in nzbsrus and someone came back and said that newsleecher does it too but puts it into caps and he said you can turn that off in options. I looked in the setup and didn't see anything relevant to that.
Next time it happens I will paste the info up.

Hi Hecks,
It did it again and I went into the logs and found this. In the file The Bourne Ulitmatum Proper R5 DVDR I found that the file that duplicated itself was r13. It was also incomplete. There were also about 5 other rars that were incomplete as well but only r13 duplicated itself..
But this is what I found in the log,

This has been happening to just about every download. I did quite a few and then this started to come up.

With what version that happens? Try excluding alt.binz dirs from AVP

Version 0.24.2.
I am runing Zone Alarm Security Suite for my Anti Virus. Never had an issue with it. I have it set to allow internet and ask for server access.
What exactly should I do with it.

I ran my own par 2 and it wouldn't do it until I closed alt binz and then it repaired it completely and extracted fine??
