Par2 and unrar problems
« on: October 06, 2007, 08:57:12 pm »
Hello,

Running 0.25.0 on Windows XP and having routine problems with par2 checking and unrar. Two cases:

1) RSS feed hits causing NZB to be imported. Everything downloads correctly even all the par files. I've have set these be added unpaused, so I DL them no matter what. When everything is finished, in the par2 tab I have a yellow icon with red x indicating "repairing of par2 set failed" and the progress column says "repair failed." The unrar column with stack of books and red x meaning "at least one of rar sets from par2 set failed unraring"

2) Same as case 1, except in the par2 tab I have a green icon indicating "Par2 set is checked & ok." However unrar column still has the  books with a red x and the progress column even says "unraring 100%." However, it has not been done.

In both cases, quickpar and winrar sucessfully process the downloaded files. Help please.

thanks

2 snips from log file:

I don't see relevant data posted here. If par2 repair failed there is par2.exe console dump in the log explaining why it failed.

Could that be the problem

Maybe that is the problem? It seems the log lines labeled [par2&unrar] are discovering "corrupt data", but not actually repairing? I've lost the original logs and will post again when it happens again

Here is the log from a DL last night. This time, the par2 tab showed a green icon, but the file failed to unrar, just unrar and found currupt data. Quickpar did need to repair before successful unrar. Looks to me like altbinz never tried to repair. Sorry for the length of logfile.........

i have no solution, but why do you download all par2 files ???

Just import then as paused (Setup->NZB)
Alt.Binz unpauses the files autom. if needed

I'm downloading all par2 files because:

1) I thought that might somehow solve the problem

2) Because I just downloaded 12 different par2/rar sets, 5 of which did not unrar properly (even though the par2 icon is green). So, now I have to repair manually and I'd rather have the files sitting there waiting. Otherwise, I have to identify manually which ones to get.

Really? No one is else is having this problem? Everything you download repairs and extracts correctly?

I would suggest next time it happens to write here what rar exactly had errors. Also I would like to see decoding entry for that rar from log.

RDL - What exactly do you mean by "decoding entry" for that entry? Above, I posted virtually the complete log file for that rar set. The first line that was not a download is :

[deleted]

Which of course fails. It seems the PAR2 repair never ran. Would you like be to post (or send you) the full log file of a failure? I was trying to limit how much was posted in the forum, but am happy to do it.

-Edit- Decided to post and entire log for a rar set. Again, got the green icon, but par2 repairing does not seem to kick in so unrar fails:

You said you had to repair with quickpar. What exact file was reported broken in quickpar? I need decoding entry for that file.
By decoding entry I mean part [Dec] Yenc file xxxxx.rxx was decoded in ... ms. And few lines before that (if they exists.. part xx failed crc check)

Unfortunately, I can't tell you which files needed repairing because I deleted them all. So, I decided to DL the same rar set again to reproduce the error. Now I'm just confused. On the second try, there were no blocks missing and everything unrar'd with no errors. Ugh - Will post again when it happens.

Note, however from my previous post that all the [Dec] lines are included in the log file and it looks to me like every .rXX and .par files decoded properly. That is the complete log file from and unsuccessful unrar. If blocks are missing, does that show up in the decode [Dec] lines?

I just wanted to bump this up again as it happens with more than half of my downloads. Altbinz failed to repair and unrar the full set. Quickpar noted that for the .r03 file, 17 of 18 blocks were available. It then successfully repaired in. The altbinz logfile shows that r03 was decoded properly and that the unrar failed because of corrupt data - though it did not try to par2 repair.

Any ideas? I'm still using 0.25.0

Could you *please* stop posting your entire log file each time, it makes scrolling & reading the thread very difficult.  Just upload your file somewhere and post a link here.
