'Files missing' what to do now?
« on: May 04, 2010, 10:22:37 pm »
I will try and give as much info as I can here but please bear with me:

Firstly I have followed all the tutorials and have Alt.binz set up to the 'industry standard' settings, with par2 repair and auto unrar.

I have tried to download a few large files and can see a Par2 recovery file in the folder. When I click on it in some cases there are up to in a worst case 3855 more blocks needed and 74 missing files! Far more than there are par2 files to unpause to download and recover.

In a best case I am also having some frustrating situations, where there are 10 files missing, but only 9 par2 files to unpause and download.

I have literally been trawling teh internetz, asking mates who might know but I cant seem to get a straight answer. What am I doing wrong to get so many damn missing files and how do I rectify this?

Additional info:

Search engine - NZB matrix
Newsreader - Altbinz 0.25.0
Server - Astraweb

Please also note that the files in question are no more than 20 days old, before people suggest im downloading too old files.

Thanks so much in advance.

seems to me the nzb u imported didn't include all files of that particular post. try searching for the missing parts either within nzb matrix or  any of the other searchengines there are: https://www.altbinz.net/forum/index.php?topic=2485.0

Your (detailed) Alt.Binz Log should at least help you to verify whether there were any problems downloading any of the files - and if not, follow david's suggestion.

What about in cases where there are several pages of posts saying it works great?

Target specific file that ended up damaged first time. Download it multiple times. An articles missing for that file in datailed log? Is file the ussual size. Compare it between each download. Same size, different content? Bad memory?

How do I target the specific file then?

Sorry to ask and thanks.

Err, import nzb and delete everything else except file you want to download. Then move file somewhere else. Repeat few times. Compare between then.
