Program hangs, tried everything I can think of!

Right, I've been using Alt Binz successfully for the last few months, and loving it very much... using it all day yesterday and it was fine.

Now, today, after no changes to my system (that I am aware of anyhow) it suddenly crashes every time.

I open AltBinz, I connect, all fine, I import an nzb - it begins downloading, gets to say 10mb and everything stops - nothing... then I get program not responding and have to kill it.

I've tried removing AltBinz, restarting and reinstalling it - both the most recent version and one earlier (the one that was working fine) and neither work.

I've also tried the standa alone exe rather than the install, again no joy.

I've even tried it on a separate user account - again no joy.

As a reluctant last resort I used system restore to restore to a date prior to yesterday (when it was working) - to no avail :/

I'm using Vista Home premium, I've tried launching it both in the 'usual' way, and with admin privilages-  again neither work.

I also tried installing it with xpsp2 compatibility ticked - again nothing!!

If anyone has any clues it would be much appreciated - I've began searching for other clients but stopped and tried yet again to get this one to work - it really is my favourite by a long way!

That sounds nasty.  Does this happen with one NZB in particular, or with all of them?  Anything reported in Alt.binz log, or in Event Viewer > Application log?

Maybe your Alt.binz settings in your user directory have become corrupted.  Try Deleting (or better: rename) that folder when you 'reinstall' Alt.binz.

Problem is caused by one of the files located within your auto import folder.

Disable the auto import of nzbs or delete everything from the folder.
