Question About Alt.Binz settings directory
« on: March 17, 2009, 01:09:37 am »
alt.binz stores all the settings data in X:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Alt.Binz

but all my other programs settings are stored in X:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming

is there a way for me to make it so the settings are saved there as well for alt.binz? it would really help upon reformatting time. or even x:\program files\alt.binz\settings would work. I could not find a way to modify it in the settings.

Install Alt.Binz outside of Program Files and everything will be included under the Altbinz directory.

I suppose i am slightly confused about what you mean. You mean reinstall to say c:\alt.binz and the settings and everything will all be within that directory? it wont put anything in the appdata locals directory?

Yes - Alt.Binz can work this way as a 'standalone' app from e.g. a thumb drive.  All your settings will be in the \misc directory under Altbinz directory.

Probably a good idea to remove everything in your user dir before, though.

Important thing is to create misc dir. Only then will alt.binz save config files there instead of users dir on vista systems

so could i essentially just create a directory under x:\program files\alt.binz\misc

then just copy all the stuff from the locals dir then and it would just read the misc dir and not read off locals anymore? that way i dont have to uninstall and reinstall again?
