r1, r2, r3....instead of 001.rar, 002.rar, 003.rar

Normally the files downloaded have the rar extension. What do you do when all the files have r1, r2, r3, etc. One of the files did have a rar extension, but extractnow does not get anything when trying to unrar.

This has nothing to do with alt.binz. Poster choosed to rename original files and upload them like that. You should try to rename the files back to r00, r01..... and then unpack
