Red "incomplete" files
« on: April 28, 2009, 05:46:59 pm »
What causes files to be marked red/incomplete? This consistently happens with files from certain posters but not others. My other program (the one I use for browsing and for creating the nzbs that alt.binz picks up) has no problem downloading these files from the same server.

So you're saying that you use one client to download headers within your server's retention and make NZBs from them, then load these NZBs into Alt.Binz and try to download (from the same server), but no joy?  That, needless to say, shouldn't be happening.  Any error messages in your Log?  Also, posting a sample NZB somewhere could be useful.

(This is assuming that it's not the Giganews issue with DMCA'd posts, with one part missing per article)

Btw, for everyone's benefit: seen a sample NZB, and the problem was with segment attribute number="-1".  Editing these to number="1" solved prob.

Thank you for the help!

So the culprit is my other newsreaders way of making nzb. I will solve this for now by downloading those few posts where this happens through my other programs downloading system.
One funny thing I noticed though is, that online nzb generators like binsearch.info are missing exactly the posts where this happens to me, while they seem to have everything else. So there must be something with the posts too.
@Rdl: The nzb file in question was created by Xnews (since you are a mod asking, I assume, I have the permission to mention other programs)

(Problem solved)

My first though was if sites like binsearch have the same parts marked as missing/incomplete maybe they are indexing from the same nsp. That doesn't make sense though since you are perfectly capable of downloading them from the very same server.

We'd know more if we saw the whole subject lines from the headers - as this is what's parsed by the indexing sites for the part info.

To clarify: the articles are not incomplete, they only show in the queue as 0KB and 0% complete because of the bad NZB.
