Hello,

I would LOVE a step by step here, cuz I am having lots of trouble.  I was downloading fine at around 1200k, now all I can get is like 5k??? I had to manually change the "server" info to include my un&pw, that worked for a while but now nothing works.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling serveral versions, serveral times with no luck. It always seems to carry the settings from the previous version over to the next. The only way "which I am trying to avoid" to make it work is to format my PC, and download for about 2 days... I have Vista 32bit with SP1, and am running it with admin rights 4Gb DDR2 Ram, Q6600 cpu, so I assume its not resource related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

First of all, do you have a paid account with Giganews and not just a 2-day trial which has run out?

If you DO have a paid account, is it unlimited, or have you used all your credits?

If it IS unlimited, then you should be fine. Of course you had to chance the server info to include your username and password, otherwise you'd not be able to get anything from Giganews.

Assuming something has went wrong, I'd simple Delete server and add it again, ie. entering server name (can be anything), address (has to be correct, usually news.giganews.com), port number, username and password. Make sure Server requires authentication is checked and you shouldn't need to check anything else, unless you use SSL. Click Add as primary and you should be set.

Quickest solution: install Alt.Binz in a folder outside of C:\Program Files, and re-enter your settings.

The Quick Start guide is linked in my sig. :)
