Alt.binz (39.3) usually works fine, but over the last couple weeks, sometimes when it's downloading, a few files out of a set will download, then start decoding, but stop decoding partway through. They show in the download queue as decoding, and the percentage of decode complete (39%, 47%, etc)
If i right click the stuck files, export to a new nzb, and re download them, they usually decode and unrar just fine.
When a file gets stuck decoding, the log shows:
Exception Access violation at address 008DD176 in module 'altbinz.exe'. Read of address 1016F01C
Any idea what's wrong, and how to fix it??
Thanks

I got the exact same issue and am also looking for a solution.

I've never noticed the error (never thought to look), but I have had altbinz stop decoding on me. It usually corrects itself if I exit the program and restart. If that doesn't work, I'll delete the part that was having trouble and redownload. I can't think of any specific instance where that did not work.

Since about 4 weeks i noticed the issue too. The decoding of some files randomly stops.
-
I found a workaround for the issue that works fine for me. I have tested it with about 20GB of downloads. No file stops decoding.
In Setup->Miscellaneous #2 i increased the decoder thread priority. My system works fine using a "higher" priority.
-
I tired that too, setting decoder thread priority to higher.. it feels like decoding hangs not as often as before but it still happens.
A solution would be highly appreciated!
-
Well, obviously it only felt as if it has gotten better because at the moment just about every download has at least 2-5 files stuck while decoding thus being unable to repair/unrar unless I restart the program.
That does kinda suck. Help!

I'm still having this issue as well, quite frequently.
Any word on a resolution? I tried upping the decoder thread priority, but that didn't help. I also tried having the decoder pause more frequently, on the setup>miscellaneous page but that didn't help either.

Do you use article caching?
What is the size of your article cache?
What was files length that you were downloading when decoding stopped?
And how many articles per file was there?
-
Thanks for the response, Rdl.
Apparently I do use article caching. Must be the default setting? Cache size was set at 120Mb, with 45 minute maximum.
File size and articles per file vary since this is an ongoing thing that has affected a lot of downloads.
The only one still in my queue, so I can look at it, has file sizes of 101Mb, and 131 articles per file, I think.
