Hi Rdl
Well interesting morning. I called my computer tech and he got online with me and watched as I went thru what was happening in my download speed.
Just to go over. My downloads have been fine and speeds as well until I got to larger files - over 10 gig files I would say.
Anyway started off and watched as my speeds went from 1500 mbits to 100 and right to 0 and crashed the pc. Everything was not responding for a bit.
So he looked at the settings and thought maybe the temp file being on my C drive might be an issue. My download folder is my F drive. I also have a D drive
Anyway we moved the temp folder to my F drive ( same as my download folder) but that caused pretty much the same issue.
Then we changed it to my D drive 9 drive just for data) and everything got way better. It never went below 300 Mbits. Then we moved the temp folder back to my C drive just to see. And it happened again. Speed went right to 0 and crashed so I moved the temp back to the D drive.
And all thru this my task manager showed absolutely no issue for cause he said. CPU, Disks, memory and network all ran like normal. Nothing revealing. He said it looks totally normal. Even when the speed went to 0 and crashed- Not responding . So it is not my pc.
He couldn't figure out why moving the temp file helped it not to crash. It did not like when we moved the temp file to the same drive as my download too. So I have left it on my D drive. He said to reach out to you with our findings.
When I used the Newshostings downloader it was very consistent but speeds in the 350-400mbits range. I have a 1.5Gig download plan.
This has only been happening for about a month or two. I had downloaded a few large files 10-20 gigs prior with no issue then. But doing it more now. I was running 48.2.2. I saw there was a new version and installed a few days ago but not much change.
At least it is not crashing now.
If you can think of anything else let me know.
Again thanks for your help. I hope you can think of something else.
Cheers
