SSL and Astraweb
« on: February 12, 2011, 04:18:06 am »
I have just d/lded Alt.binz V35.1.
I have a $10 unlimited account with Astraweb
I have set it up but I cannot get it to work on ssl
tried ports 119 and 8080 without success.
It downloads OK without ssl

I tried newsbin it worked OK with ssl but I didnt like their scheduler

Anyone else had this problem with ssl and any clues how to get ssl to work

Alt.Binz works 100% with Astraweb SSL.  Did you try these servers/ports:

Secure Servers (SSL) on ports 443 or 563.
- ssl.astraweb.com
- ssl-eu.astraweb.com (European servers)
- ssl-us.astraweb.com (U.S. servers)

Make sure you check the SSL box in server setup and/or check your firewall.

Please setup your newsreader with these settings:

General Server: news.astraweb.com
European Server: eu.news.astraweb.com
US Server: us.news.astraweb.com
Ports: 119, 23, 1818 or 8080

I used the settings you gave and have no problem

Thanks Hecks :)
