Title: Stuck at decoding!
Post by: schweitzer on April 10, 2007, 07:44:12 am
I am using alt.binz with Ngroups.NET and one of every 5 files I download gets stuck at decoding and must be redownloaded!  How do I fix this?

Look at log for decoding errors. It's probably your avp software

I use NGroups too with no such problems. So I'm in agreement with RDL that it is something else.

yep possibly...

try to add the altbinz tempfolder as an excluded directory within your antivirus program...

by the way, what antivirus program do you use?

I tried it on an XP computer and it never froze at decoding.
Do any of the developers have Vista?

is there a way to restart or manualy do the encoding of that (in this case part 43)

because it's still in my temp folder
Title: Same problem here
Post by: bodar on April 14, 2007, 02:34:21 am
Also decoding problems. Ten files will go fine and the next will hang on decoding. The frame disappears and only the text decoding remains.
Is there anyway to restart decoding

Decoding stoped cause avp software was holding that file. There is an bug in public 0.24.1 that prevents restart of decoding process (most likely if you have few files for decoding and you restart alt.binz you end up with empty queue.

Thanks RDL you're right, at restart all the files were gone and I had to download again. I've shut down the automatic process and manually  quickpar the files.

I disabled my par checking but it still does it!  What other automatic processes are there?  When will this be fixed?

I have zonealarm and checked in program control - programs- par2.exe as trusted and for the last 12 gb (around 200 decodings) none of the decoding hangs

If You dont have admin privilations set in Vista you can not put youre  temp or download folder in %windir%\programfiles just because the program will not have the writing\execute premission.

just put youre temp and download folders on youre main disk or somewhere else but not in the default setup directory.

better is even to let alt.binz install in a different folder other than a system folder.
