Windows 8.1 and Alt.Binz 0.39.15
« on: October 29, 2013, 02:29:02 pm »
Hello,

On my Windows 8.1 installation I experience problems with Alt.Binz which I never had with my previous Windows 7 installation.
Downloading is never going faster then 10 megabytes/s and Alt.Binz cannot be opened while downloading, because it seems to be freezing all the time.. Sometimes you get the main window all stuck.

Try lowering number of connections. 0.4x series should solve those problems.

Hello, maybe it's a driver issue; is your Windows 8.1 an upgrade or a custom OEM installation?
After an upgrade the (W)Lan-driver sometimes get corrupted by Windows. You could try an online-speedtest.
If your downloadspeed doesn't meet your normal speed, then uninstall your driver thoroughly and install the latest driver from
the specific manufacturer or supplier. That did the trick with me.
Good luck!

Not to say there is no issue, but i'm getting fullspeed (15  MB/s) with 25 connections here. i'm using a clean installation of Win 8.1 Pro and Alt.Binz 0.39.15.

I set up Altbinz on 8.1 for a friend today

Speed test = 30mb/s

Altbinz = 6mb/s

Graphics redraw was really laggy (30 second delays after clicking and redraws taking 1 minute)
Altbinz was working but redraws were so bad it looked like it had frozen

Temp solution for laggy graphics was to switch
Miscellaneous/ Miscellaneous#2 settings all 3 to idle idle idle

but the speed was never going above 6mb/s?

Any ideas what is causing the speed and performance settings?

Cheers

Try lowering number of connections. 0.4x series should solve those problems.

I don't understand

so if 25 connections
lower to 25x0.4=9.6
so change to 9 connections?

-

With my friends set up it is a new win 8.1 HP laptop on cable router

will lowering the connections fix the problems with internet speed, altbinz response and graphics redraw?

Cheers

What else might i try?

ok

I tried lowering the number of connections to 5

47mbps Virgin Cable service
HP laptop
Windows 8.1

Altbinz 5mbps - and really sluggish button and redraws - like 1 minute delays when running

Bin Reader - works fine
runs at 47mbps

Its an Altbinz problem

I had to apologise to my friend

I explained that I had never had any problems with Altbinz before and that his money would go towards development of the program.

Its a bit odd

Any Ideas

Same slow connextion... With windows 7 I get about 170 Mbit. With windows 8.1 on new PC the max 90 Mbit.
When i download a speedtest file from some providers with a 1Gb size the speed is around 180 Mbit!!

The connection with the net is a 180Mbit.
Messauring with networx

I hope the issue can be solved!!

I switched to NZB get

Made it run on start up
Added it to sick beard (so tv is now fully automated)
On my index site I have "add to nzb get" as a port forwarding option

So I can view my fave website. .. choose stuff ...and find it ready when I get home.
