after unrar
i get lots of files left over
(http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/1442/screenshot616q.jpg)
if i use "par n rar" (when altbinz fail)parnrar removes all extra files after unrar.
--
Q1 Do i just add the file extensions to the "delete after unrar" ?
Q2 which file extensions ( .srr ? ?)
Q3 if i set to delete the par files....Will this create a problem with extraction?
if ALTBINZ does the "Altbinz only extracted the sample file" bug
because if i set to delete the par files after unrar
it will:
unrar the sample files instead of the main file (incorrectly)
then delete the par files (if i set it to delete them)
then wont have the par files to repair the extract the FULL files
======
on a separate not i'm not sure why altbinz cant just tell it has only extracted a small sample file not the main file. the program knows the sizes of files involved
Its probably 2 lines of code to fix it
=========

anyone :-X
-
i added ".srr" to the "delete after unrar"
but my concern is:
if i add ".par2" or ".par"
then when altbinz does the "only extract the sample file, not the main file" bug
it will delete my par files but won't have extracted the main file
anyone
I just want a tidy folder after extraction
-
Explain exactly "only extract the sample file, not the main file" bug
-
Explain exactly "only extract the sample file, not the main file" bug
Hi sorry for the delay
bug is...
Altbinz extracts 'a' file and leaves the 'rars'
The file is not the 'full movie'.............. its the 'sample one minute' file
when i got to 'extract the movie in winrar', it says overwrite the file (so its the same files name)
Happens a lot
folders full of sample 1 minute files

Aha, got it. I'll introduce a switch to force altbinz to rename smaller file.

thanks dude
I get a bit grumpy from time to time.
I set up altbinz for my friend this week, I said you guys fix things straight away. :) :)
-
Once this "rename smaller file is in place" i can set to delete ".par2 files after extract" too. for an litter free folder :)
--
you could add .srr and .par2 or any other to the tick boxes for delete after extract
-
or could we have an option to remove the smaller file all together?
-
did you sort the "only extract the sample file, not the main file" bug
i added
*.srr
*par2
to the "delete after unrar option."
Will it delete me par files if it extracts only the sample rar?
(Could we have an option to delete the smaller 'same name' file, if you add the option to auto rename the file)
-
so in short how do ensure not getting a folder full of crap
but still have access to par files, and all the other relevant to files to automatically repair the downloads while i sleep.
i would like to
--start download
--forget about it
--find a folder with all the relevant files
--if it crashed or something silly and stopped extracting (happens very frequently) .....
........be able to one click "par rar" style and extract the altbinz folder. (i am using par'n'rar at the moment but i am suspicious that it does not par the same as quick par)

Well, if I may add my 2c to this monologue: the scenario you describe - Alt.Binz downloading unattended, auto-unpausing & auto-repairing & unraring and clearing all folders - is perfectly standard. My Alt.Binz has been running like this for months without problems. It's how it's supposed to work.
If you don't want the sample, auto-pause it; you can list 'Unimportant files' under Setup > Par2, so it ignores them too. If par2.exe is failing for you, well I just don't have that experience, so I have nothing to add.
You can also use 'Execute Command On Completion' to run your own scripts if you need to.

OK sorry that my continuing support report appears to you as a one sided discussion
Here's my point
I would like to set up the options to do this:
1-To completly "repair" and "extract" the all the files
(hopefully RDL is working on "only extract the sample file, not the main file" bug - detailed above)
2- To not have "irrelevant or potentially needed for repair" stuff left over
If i pause remove or delete BEFORE REPAIR then REPAIR will not REPAIR. So any action has to be AFTER successful REPAIR and EXTRACTION. So that is why i have left the uninportant files in par 2 set unchecked.
I feel like i am shooting in the dark changing these settings. I have enough problems with ALTBINZ not extracting 60% of the time, without changing setting to hinder this process of extraction further.
I'm not 100% sure what settings i should have for this action of flawless repair and extraction with nothing left over.

This is the bit I don't understand. Could you explain further, with an example?

Two quick questions:
Do you use NZBPlay while downloading?
Why do you have the pause option "par recovery files larger than xxx" disabled?

I think you have a misconception about how this feature works. If you pause all recovery pars and download the small par file plus all rars you can eliminate all unimportant files before hand with out a problem.
If no repair is needed the post will unrar and the small par gets deleted.
If a repair is needed they get repaired with the rest of the set by the unpaused recovery pars. After repair and extraction the delete after unrar list should take care of the newly created unwanted files.

its a lot to take in
I dont use NZB play
I'm not sure how the "download/repair/extract"works
and in "what order" the settings options are applied
and "when" the options are applied
You are on the right lines there, thinking i am confused :)
(Putting aside the frequent "Altbinz stops extracting, i have used the program for a while and not quite worked it out)
initially i had the default settings for pausing par files.
the stuff that downloaded stayed in the list of downloading files at 100% (which i kind of liked)
but a frequently the repair/unrar crashed and i just had folders of rars.
so i set the unpause the pars (thinking this was the reason it had filed to extract) (everything downloads in the list and then disappears from downloading list)
but since i have realised Altbinz crashes the somehow during this repair unrar process
I use parnrar to sort out folders full of rars if this happens. (so the pars would be needed in that scenario)
But i would like Altbinz to just "do it all automatically.... and clean up after"
1 problem is the bug...
Altbinz extracts 'a' file and leaves the 'rars'
The file is not the 'full movie'.............. its the 'sample one minute' file
when i got to 'extract the movie in winrar', it says overwrite the file (so its the same files name)
Happens a lot
2nd problem is
Altbinz stopping the repair/extract process
---
So I need to set some things to be paused? Will this hinder the repair/ extraction process?
-
if i set par2 and small par to pause
i still get the sfv file
but less crap
BUT...
if teh download had needed repair would altbinz have automatically un-paused the par files to use for repair?
-
Yes, it will unpause the needed pars for repair.
I've seen your settings and I would suggest few more things:
[PAR2] Uncheck "Recheck all Par2 sets on startup" and check all uninportant files.
[Unrar] Uncheck "Overwrite existing files"
Makse sure you have following options in [NZB]:
Checked "Move small par2.... "
Checked ""Sort RARs while importing"
Do you unrar to different location from download?
-
Yes, it will unpause the needed pars for repair.
cheers :)
Thanks for helping
I've seen your settings and I would suggest few more things:
[PAR2] Uncheck "Recheck all Par2 sets on startup" and check all uninportant files.
[Unrar] Uncheck "Overwrite existing files"
both were ticked
i ticked all the unimportant files on the list (will i still get .nfo files?)

i unrar to the folder created with the nzb name.
-
Uncheck those 2 you had checked and give it a try for a day or two...
-
Altbinz is still stopping extracting
And removing the listing from the app
so i have to re-inport the nzb to find the pars to unpause them
I am switching the pause par files back to un pause
-
I don't get it. How can it remove from download queue if you have big par2 files paused?
-

Yes its puzzling me
I may have removed the items from the queue, but i not 100%
all i know is once ALtbinz stops extracting... that's it until reboot. PITA
