It would be great if there was an option to disable skins in the new version. Not that skins are bad, but I am on windows 7 so the windows already look great and best of all have aero effects, however now with the skins even the "Windows 7" skin doesnt look right because it doesnt match.

+1

err I don't think it's that easy :)
However you now only see borders on the main form. RSS tab -> add button to see how the rest of the form will look like in next versions
-
This is a work in progress, as you've said, and I'm sure it will be great when all done. At the moment, though, as an all-or-nothing skin it overrides all local settings including text font & sizes, and it's somewhat difficult to use at low res as a result (text is too small to read in places). Perhaps these might be settable in future, along with other customizations? And can we have a vanilla XP template if there is one, ta. ;)
P.S. The close button = minimize to tray doesn't work atm.
-
I don't really mind skinning, the app is in the tray most of the time anyway, but what is wrong with making use of the native Windows theme in the first place. It looks so much better when it just blends in with the rest of the apps.
-
I second that request, as I am using another app in Windows 7 named Actual Windows Manager, which blends in several buttons in the window title bar. With the new skins in Alt.Binz those buttons overlap with the standard buttons in Alt.Binz, making it not only ugly but impossible to use them.

I'll add option to remove form border skin effect.

Thank you, Rdl. We all appreciate how responsive you are to the community here!
I'm sure many users will like skin capabilities but, for myself, I want alt.binz to be an efficient utility that blends into the rest of my computing environment. Adding the ability to opt out of using skins would be nice.

I use a Windows XP theme that I like very much, so I don't need programs to try to do their own skinning. Please allow us to just use the native look of the OS. It was perfect before!
-
I use XP with all the effects disabled (I prefer square windows, like W98) and the option to completely disable the skin would be most welcome but if it isn't possible... after all, the program works and that is what matters :)

Well, Alt.Binz has never used the native OS controls, it's always had its own themes (just like MS apps :P) ... but the good news is that, just a few posts above yours, Rdl suggested he would "add option to remove form border skin effect".

Awesome RDL!!!! Thanks! Also sorry to complain about your new addition I do feel guilty, but imho the window borders and min/max/close buttons should be left to windows native skinning.

P.S. The close button = minimize to tray doesn't work atm.
Same issue here, closing to tray doesnt work just closes the entire program now. Also in Win7, dragging the application to the top of the screen doesnt maximise anymore, and dragging away from the top doesnt un-maximise it.
Appreciate the support

I also would like a way (or special skin) that makes it act like it did back in v0.31.2. I always move my cursor fast to the very top right or top left corner and double click to exit the program (can do this in a micro flick of the hand), but with the new skins if you click in the very (extreme) top left or right it will not quite hit the menus (in the extreme top left) or the X close sign (in the extreme top right).
Its only a tiny bit away from the very corners but still its takes more consentration for me to line up my cursor with them instead of knowing just to flick it to the extreme top left/right. (if anyone gets my drift).
Only a tiny niggle (that plus the minimize by clicking taskbar not working, but I know you already know about that from another post).
Thanks, i love Alt.Binz ^_^

Yeah, +1 on the minimize to tray. Not overly concerned about skins, but nice idea still.I'd prefer custom tray icons.
-
Also using gestures in programs like StrokeIt are no longer able to max/minimize :(

Any eta on this as we have been waiting two months now. Not after a new version, just a simple bug fix to things that were previously working.

Yeah, I agree. I'll release new version with current bugfixes ASAP.

Yes please, get away from skins altogether. Go back to themes as it was before.
Had been using v31.2 and only recently checked for new versions. DLed v31.5 and came across skins. These skins basically make the program unusable. Back to using v31.2 until skins are gone.
Why bother with something as stupid as skins. Work on functionality; functionality is why I use the program and because I was happy with the functionality of it I donated.
Skins are for people that don't care about how a program functions, just what it looks like.
Please, I beg, drop the idea of skins, and leave it with the themes that is used before.
-
I also the them used before. The new skins are just ugly :(
