Add newsgroup posting with SSL encryption
« on: June 23, 2008, 01:24:12 pm »
Hi,

Another request from me, the only really good posting program is powerpost, and there are some variants on it like camelsystem powerpost. Now SSL encryption is increasing popularity it would be nice if Alt.Binz has a posting functionality. And then, with SSL encryption!  :D

When Alt.Binz has this it's really useful and with SSL encryption users feel safe. The code from powerpost is opensource and you can use it to implement in Alt.Binz.

Well, what do you think?  :)

Yess that's almost the same. But I don't care about all those different programs, rarring with winrar is easy, then use quickpar to create .par2 files. Only the nzb has to be made by Alt.binz and SSL encryption would be great.

I'm pretty sure you didn't read that thread then.

Whither it's posting with SSL or posting without SSL is immaterial if Rdl's not interested in providing the ability to post using his program, so we'll have to wait and see what he says.....

SSL posting is ridiculous. SSL purpose is to avoid traffic shaping not protect your ass from the RIAA, its not illegal to download right now anyway. People who use ssl for downloading and are not traffic shaped or on a public network is wasting your providers resources and also sometimes lowering your thread download speed due to the handshakes that are necessary with SSL encrypted connections.

Why I say ssl is pointless for posting is because either way your post will be tracked by your provider by a unique ID tag this tag is then tracked to your account for banning purposes (say if your were spamming or posting child porn). The riaa CANT and will not sit there and use resources to sniff your connection, its actually illegal at least here in the US.
