Add to queue as seperate collections
« on: March 30, 2011, 12:08:39 pm »
As far as I know currently the only option to add multiple search results to the download queue is to add them combined into one big download or add them one by one manually. I often add more than one search result to the queue and would like to have them in the queue as separate downloads. This usually takes quite a lot of keystrokes or clicks.

Would you please consider adding two more options to the menu? To add the selected items to the queue separately (started and paused).

I could start a fundraiser if you like? Garage sale? Yard sale?  ;D

It's been a year since this request, I guess this won't be added in any time soon?

I'll try and add it after 0.4 is out.

If enter name dialog is enabled should it display dialog for every entry?

Perhaps there could be a popup asking first if we want to enter name for each? 'No' means using same defaults as autoimport.

This is of course only useful for search engines that consolidate releases properly into one result each.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I almost forgot I posted this... The feature would still be appreciated though. 8)

If you were to show 20 pop-ups when adding 20 files at once I think it would mostly defeat the purpose of the shortcut. If you need to name them individually you should add them individually. This dialog only influences the name in the queue and the directory name(s) right? Wouldn't it be more useful (time-saving) to ask for a base name and add a counter (if anything at all)?

I kind of agree with MegamanNL.  If you have Categories set up properly, it would be just like doing a mass autoimport. Assuming that the subject lines aren't stupid, ofc - but I guess you'd want to use this with 'clean' results like nzb.su rather than Binsearch anyway.

multiple selections seperately downloaded with add to queue

Did a bit of searching. Found only one possibly (very long thread) posts from 2008.  Re: Intelligent grouping and selection

Would assume that this option would have already been implemented in the right click menu already if was true...

Basically I do a search (usually via nzbindex).  Let's say there are 10 results that I want to download.  The issue I am having is that I have to manually select and download each result separately.  Otherwise if I select all 10, right click and send to queue, they all are filtered to the same directory. So then I have to manually go into and sort out the files into their own (sub)directory afterwards.

Example:

Search for tips n tricks.  Wanted Results labelled as tnt1, tnt2, tnt3...

So if I select all of these, add to queue, they will all download to the same directory of tnt1. Would love to be able to do the same right click actions (whether first in queue or regular queue) and have it automatically download to respected labelled directories of tnt1, tnt2, tnt3 ...  So then obviously when download is complete, won't have to into the one directory, create x new folders, name them, then select the certain files to cut and paste into them.

Figured better to be long winded and understood, rather than short and to the point. Possibly leaving it unclear or open to interpretation.

I've added this in 0.39.8 to Binsearch tab only! Note that you have to switch on that mode via right click menu on items or via shortcut CTRL+Z. You'll notice 3 sec info when switching mode via status label.
Please post feedback on this feature so it could be implemented on other search engines!

i like the option, but there should be the possibility to rename the individualy via dialog, also each collection should have the name its own post as default. Right now they all get named after the first selected collections and then (1,2 ect.)

A dialog for each and every item in the selection would defeat the purpose of adding them all at once imho. If you must name them individually you can simply add them one by one like you always have... Although I would have to agree that it might be more logical to use the original post name for each item when Prompt for name when importing from search Engines is disabled. That's what I expected the first time I tried this feature.
With the option Prompt for name when importing from search Engines enabled it works like a charm (ask for a base name and add a counter).

Is there any way to prevent it from adding the counter to the unrar folder itself? If anything, it would make more sense to me that it would use a counter on sub directories of the unrar folder. And for consistency it might be better in stead of the checkbox to add two menu items, i.e. Add seperately and Add seperately (pauzed). But that's up to you (Rdl) of course. :)

Either way, thanks a lot for adding this!

I use the naming dialog to choose the apropriate category, but you are right renaming all of the posts, somewhat defeats the purpose allthough it is still a lot quicker than switching back an forth between queue and search engine to do it one by one.

Maybe the import dialogue that apears for the first post could be used to determine the category for all selected, and all others get imported with their respective names without import dialogue.

i do like the checkbox al lot, becaus this way i can simply use the shortcuts i'm used to and the right click menue is not as bloated.
