Alt.Binz Light
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:18:11 pm »
Hallo,

On my E350 netbook i can't upgrade from 0.39.2 to a higher version.
Ofcourse I can, but the cpu-load is to high for this simple cpu and the max download speed is slower.

Can you please have a Light version, just for netbooks?

Are you 100% sure 0.39.2 is the last usable versionfor you? You've tried 0.39.3 and cpu usage is higher?
I'm asking you this to know exactly where to look for possible error.

0.39.3 is about the same speed as 0.39.2

0.39.3 is about the same speed as 0.39.2

And that's about 50 Mb/s with a 60 Mb/s abo.
cpu-load around 60-70 with peeks over 90% for altbinz.exe

So, you're saying that something has been changed from 0.39.3 -> 0.39.4 that's resulting in higher cpu usage (and lower speeds)

At least lower speed, tried 0.9.4 again and got 40 Mb/s
got back to 0.9.3 and it was 50 again

forgot to check cpu load with 0.9.4 :(
But even with 0.9.3 it's high.

Now I'm a bit confused.
Could you do the test for me on THE SAME NZB
versions 0.39.2 0.39.3 0.39.4
speed?
cpu usage?

exit dropbox & skydrive
HP netbook with an E350 and 7200rpm HD
Win7 home premium 64bit, 4 gb memory
virusscanner: MS essentials
newsserver: supernews, 10 lines to EU server, 10 to US server

0.39.3: about 44 Mb/s cpuload around 60% but peaks to 95%, flatline in graph below
0.39.4: about 37 Mb/s cpuload around 80% peaks to 98%, not a really flatline.
Compleet netbook is feeling slow with both version, but slower with .4 :(

0.38.5 & 0.39.2: is about the same as 0.39.3

I wouldn't expect any change.
