auto disconnect
« on: October 10, 2009, 07:46:36 pm »
hey. ive looked threw altbinz and couldnt find it. ive googled a bit to.

how about making altbinz auto disconnect when its done downloading?. or at least making an option for it.
as i travel a lot, and my usenet provider does not support multiple ips connected at the same time.

i used to use grabit, and when it was done downloading it dropped all connections to usenet servers.
so when i connected at a friends house or at work it didnt block me.

there may be a function for this only i havent found it.

the -connected while idle- isnt hooked off. but it still keeps the connections alive.

ive tried it on and off on both machines running altbinz. doesnt drop the connections.

it just seems that way u still see the connections but it says idle and if u look into the log u see that the connection are droped when the download is finished...

same here, even after an hour it still says "idle" and the log says nothing about disconnecting. "connected when idle" is not selected of course.

At my place it says "[T4] Disconnected (****)"

And of course lik davidq says, thats only in the log. Connection panel still says "Idle". Important thing to keep in mind.

In a command prompt, do:

netstat -a

That will give you some info. Also, the connection stuff only shows with detailed logging enabled  (Setup -> Log).  Also, when 'Connect While Idle' is checked, the connection panel will show 'Connected & Authenticated' for each thread.

my bad I don't have detailed log activated. so if I understand it correctly "idle" means "disconnected but ready" whereas 'Connect While Idle' checkedit says 'Connected & Authenticated'?
