I have setup my unmetered account as primary server with 3 connections, but I want my 100gb block account to use all 10 connections when it gets used as a backup server for files that are not found on the primary one. It doesn't seem to work, it always uses 3 connections, like the primary. Could this be changed ?

Having abz retaining the max number of threads per server would be indeed pretty usefull especially in a multiserver (+primary/secondary trick) configuration.

an unelegant solution in the meantime would be to have the first account also (try) to use 10 connections... this allows the backup to also use 10...

It would work indeed. The problem is that some servers (and especially the one most french leechers are usingas primary) are blacklisting  your IP if u keep on trying to use more threads than allowed.

Hi
I know it's an old question but problem still alive.
My French  provider let me an access to free netgroups access but for binary groups data couldn't older than ~7 days
It's free but you can have only 4 thread max (~1000Mb/s) . If you use more than 4 you are blacklisted for 24 hours.
My backup server is cheap but not free. It allow 30 threads so I can have 1700Mb/s

So yes it will be good if alt.binz can use for each servers the max thread defined for each of one, and not use the max thread of primary to use with backup

Thanks.
Another thing
When I made a search in the forume of this problem I found an article with an altbinz.com link
As you know altbinz.com is a parking website now ( I hate this sort of site)
When I replace .com by .net the link was good
So may be an update in forums to replace all .com into .net will be good

And really before I used grabbit but this soft is more powerful ( I like the option to download par file only when archive are corrupt )

What you ask is already possible. Double click a server and change number of connections so obviously for your primary you would set it to 4 then for your backup you would set to 30. Of course you need to disconnect and then connect for changed settings to take effect.

I have 2 different servers and it works for me perfectly.
Perhaps the server with most connections must be primary, so delete them from config then re add them in reverse.
Your current backup that allows 30 connections make that your primary in the config.
The server that only allows 4 connections config that as your backup.
Try that and see if it works correctly.

but because my backup fro newsgroup is not free and I paid only when my quota is finish I prefer to use first my free newsgroup before to switch to backup.
So I let the 4 threads on my primary and backup servers for small file and switch only on my backup with more threads for big files
