Chasing through newsgroups.
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:07:28 pm »
Hello,

I love to walk through not so common newsgroups, e.g, a.b.s.mp3.blues, or x.x.x.mp3.jazz or dixieland and things like that.
I'm using the possibilities of what Alt.binz, Binsearch and aEton gives us and it's working great!
A little minor thing, when Alt.binz is been closed and started again, all the things are gone,so you have to start all over again.

Is there a possibility, if when chasing through a newsgroep, to hold the pages
into a file or log, so that after Alt.binz is being closed and restarted again, all the pages already d/l are shown again?
Maybe with a Hold and Clear button or something like that.

Regards, Gompy

All the things are gone? If you add anything interesting as paused to the queue, nothing gets lost I guess.

No that's not what I mean Richard.

Alt.binz has the possibility, in combination witch searchsite's like aEaton, Yabse, Binsearch etc, to browse through all the newsgroups available on these site's. (A lovely feature)
The number of pages one can walk through can be very large, more than 700, or even more, up to 1500 in a.b.boneless, all depends on which newsgroup, and the number of result per page you've setup.
This is a great feature for people who wants to see what's available in a particular group.
This in opposition with site's like NL-SS where people can get their need's if they are knowing of what they are looking for.

The point is to have the possibility to store the pages one has already walk through, so if by some reason Alt.binz is being closed, one can pick up the page where one is remained when Alt.binz is closed.

Hope this make it clear Richard

I am missing the advantage in that. While you browse, you select the interesting ones. Do not forget, that groups get updated all the time. If you are on page 20 and abz abends, then you got a point. You have to browse through 20 pages again. This could be overcome if you could specify an offset (the s=####### in the url)
