Auto-Pause corrupted files
« on: November 23, 2011, 01:01:09 am »
I've just downloaded EDITED only to find all rars in my incomplete folder in dreaded CAPS (ie all corrupted as per alt.binz settings).
It would be cool if alt.binz could automatically pause an nzb as soon as it detects a corrupted file.

This would somewhat defeat the purpose of the par2 repair function.

Point taken, but in this particular instance I was getting "430 no such article found" errors, but files were downloaded regardless. Would be cool if alt.binz detected these (and similar) errors in the log file & paused the download.

But again, the par2 repair function helps with 430 errors, unless there are too many of them, so you wouldn't want it autopausing whenever you get such an error, but only if the number is above some set limit.  Deciding what this limit should be in each case is the trick.

Otherwise Alt.Binz could implement pre-checking of article availability before starting to download, like some standalone tools do, but that's another request. ;)

OK, thanks. To be fair this is the first time every file has been corrupted due to these errors and I now understand it's likely the par2 function has probably repaired a number of less serious instances in the background.
Hopefully this setting can somehow be tweaked, in the meantime I'll look out for that pre-checking tool - or monitor my downloads more closely!
