Option to have global UNRAR or by download
« on: April 25, 2007, 03:24:10 pm »
Hi

In earlier versions, you had the option in settings to select all files to be UNRAR'd after download.  Later builds give you the option for each download as you select them.

Is it possible to re-enable the global option and if enabled, remove the option when selecting a download.

Regards

I think he means: an option to toggle unraring on the Enter Name dialog when adding files to queue.

Hecks - that's right.

In options / setup, I have selected to Auto UNRAR but when I add a file to download, I still get the option to select to unRAR

Hope that makes more sense.

I understand Hecks point. A valid one.
But necros no. You have selected autounrar in options, ok. I don't understand the part that you get the option to select to unrar. Your download will be by default unrared, but you have an option to toggle unraring off/on. What's wrong with that?

If you enable the Auto UnRAR after you have added some files in queue, it seems like it doesn't set the mode for the items already in the queue to be unrar'ed.
Here it would be nice if one could right-click and check if it should be UnRAR'ed or not.

So, of cause the global setting is nice, but could be good to have the possibility to choose whether a specific queue-item (group) should be automatically unrar'ed or not in the end. Some items one could preferer NOT to unrar, for some reasons.

Currently one is missing the option if:
- auto is on, and a queue-group shouldn't be unrar'ed
- auto is off, and a queue-group SHOULD be unrared (which would be nice, if as mentioned, one has the auto set to off to begin with, but then sets it on)

Just my 2 cents.
Thanks!

Don't know if I understand you well, but if you rightclick on a ( collapsed) item in the downloadqueue, you have many options to choose, Unrar, Do not Unrar as well.

Just found the options you mentioned. However, they only occur when AutoUnrar is checked (activated) in the Settings, as well as Alt.Binz has been restarted.

However, then it will always set the mode of Unrar on. Seems to miss the possibility to choose whether the mode is on or not as default.

So currently Alt.Binz can:
- auto-on, possibility to turn off

Alt.Binz cannot (as far as I can see):
- auto-off, possibility to turn on

Please correct me if I'm wrong :-)

You are right, the Unrar mode need always to be activated, but isn't Alt.binz developed to be an auto-unrarring-parring program?

In the exceptional cases someone doesn't want to unrar, that possibility is available.

But I am not the author, maybe Rdl  will see something in your point ;)

Yes, of cause :)
Just got a bit curious, if it just were me who couldn't find the feature.

Anyway, after I wrote in this thread, I have been digging around the forum, where it seems like the project (Alt.Binz) is sorta going down. Not sure if it is the final decision, but would be really sad if it is. Especially since nobody is able to continue developing, due to Rdl aren't happy about releasing the source.

Just found the software recently, and was very thrilled over it - so I'm sad to read the news :(

Yes, I'm afraid it was just you who couldn't find that feature ...  :)
No, just kidding, doesn't matter.
