Downloading/importing Improvements
« on: August 06, 2008, 03:37:51 am »
I originally posted in this thread. However, it started to get kinda messy/long. So I've split off a few downloading related requests to this thread.

1. Option to import a nzb directly from a search tab, perhaps on a right-click menu. Sometimes the collections available on a search are incomplete, or have the wrong name; in those cases I sometimes download the nzb directly. However when I do this, then I have to browse to the download dir, import it manually, and delete the empty download dir.

2. Ignore the option "import already downloaded as paused" when the current file is incomplete and is not already queued (duplicate). I occasionally get incompletes from RSS and need to repair. Currently this involves switching back and forth between download and par2 to check files and unpause them.

3. The auto-pause feature should be ignored if the nzb only contains a single auto-paused filetype. For instance, a single nzb, or only pars, or whatever.

4. Extend the functionality of "merge collections with same name on import" to recognize previously downloaded items (no longer in queue window, still stored in history). This could be implemented as a toggle or prompt. I'm sure there's someone who would site a valid reason to download it twice to a different directory, but I have no idea how.

1. +1 for me, it can already be done with "open" in NLSS tab

2. also nice request

3. also good on. In that case adding a single nzb would cause to download it even if nzbs are added as paused normaly

Thanks for the heads up on the NL SS tab, I've been favoring the other search engines since switching to altbinz. All the search results seem to be tainted with all lowercase letters, which breaks my "perfectness" that I like. That is exactly what I was wishing for though, not sure if there was a technical reason it was not implemented on the other search tabs.

Probably wasn't added to other search tabs because they display collections rather than individual files.  It would be nice to see this enabled for tabs that support Fetch Collection Info, though, and/or for collections with single files.

First off, welcome back... I'm sure you're probably busy reading dozens/hundreds of posts since you have been gone so take your time to reply if you need.

Thank you for saying you will add the direct open feature, what about the other couple requests about auto-pause and merge w/ previous?

It all depends on quality of the request and my spare time + read the news on the forum (top of the page) I'll not be around in next 10-14 days again. Higher forces :) I'm finishing 0.28.2 as we speak ( 1:35am ) to at least release something before I leave again tomorrow.
