limit xpat search results

When doing an xpat search...is it possible to limit the number of results and have the xpat search restart with the next new item?

I am currently searching a newsgroup that has 1.6 million items.  I've tried to use the "from" box but it resets to the number that my search started with.  I've also tried pausing and reconnecting but the search restarts at the beginning.  In addition, i've tried using the "age" as my additional search query but search doesn't appear to work off of that column.

I use a newsreader to locate items and then I like to create my own nzb's from the headings if there isn't already one available.

I have done several searches in the forum and couldn't find an answer relating to this request.  If I have missed it I apologize for being redundant.

u can either use the limiter only search form message xxx on which will give u all new post since ur last search or use only search last xxx messages... to catch all messages use wildmat and * as the searchstring

thanks davidq666.  I discovered I wasn't using the "last" and "from" boxes correctly.  Your response cleared this up for me.  Thanks for the quick response.
