History / summary of NZB files downloaded
« on: March 21, 2007, 01:57:57 pm »
Hi - excellent app ! :D

Suggestion - would it be possible to retain a log showing only the NZB files selected / downloaded and some other info that the system & user can add e.g. date downloaded; user comment; etc.

Reason for suggestion is that several times I end up downloading the same NZB when looking for a particular download.  If after downloading, I could add a comment against a NZB that may help in future so that I don't select it again e.g.

NZB List
Movie 1.NZB   downloaded 17/03/2007  Comment "CAM but DVD size - not worth it"
Movie 2.NZB   downloaded 20/03/2007  Comment "Excellent quality - keep for future"
Movie 3.NZB   downloaded 21/03/2007  Comment "Missing files & can't UNRAR / PAR"

Ideal would be a file that it updated after every downloaded and then referenced (based on NZB name ?) when a new NZB is added.

Thanks

xx different ways to obtain nzb and xx different nzbs so no way to quickly identify 2 nzbs are the same thing. But, download history is already implemented in some of the previous builds, so when you search for something via nlss or xpat or you import nzb you already downloaded, you'll know that you already downloaded it cause background for that file will be in blue and it will have Downloaded mark next to it.

OK - I mainly use NZBIndex so am not familar with the XPat retention and I don't use NLSS.  Can the same functionality be added into NZBIndex ?

Appreciate that NZB 'names' can be different for same post but I would have thought that the poster would not change the NZB name after posting i.e. if posted as 'Movie 1 DVDR NL Sub.NZB' then that would remain until it expired.  Also, the MD5 hash would only change it the NZB was renamed.

Whilst it wouldn't give 100% accuracy and prevent downloading the same file twice, having a NZB summary would be a quick check before adding to download queue.

Just my thoughts and keep up the excellent work.

Too many ifs. Anyway download latest daily, enable download history, download something, import same nzb from any source again and in download queue it will be clearly visible that you already downloaded that

I'd like to suggest two things that might enhance the new download history feature:

1. Similar to the OP's request, an ability to log automatically the names of all downloaded NZB root nodes in a text file, with date & time, and/or unrared filenames, and maybe directory info. Something simpler than the full log file is what I'm thinking.  I like to get a quick view of what I've been leeching over the last few days and weeks, at the moment I do this manually with a batch routine (using a bit of a roundabout method, tbh).  I also add comments like the OP - mainly to record which files I've replaced with propers or internals, etc.  This log is purely for information purposes, the dl history takes care of dupes nicely. :)

2. An option to keep all entries in the Download Queue with status updates instead of automatic removal of completed files.  The new cleanup button and/or timer option can do that work now, and it's nice sometimes to see what's happened to each file in the set without digging through the full log. :)

Is the download history feature already implemented in one of the latest builds?
I am using the 200307 version right now.
Can I get the latest version if I request it in the IRC channel?
I do want to test the program if there is a new daily
Thanx
