Search criteria explanations?
« on: September 02, 2009, 07:53:32 am »
Since I use the built in search engines is there a list of different ways to do a search? Like to omit words, search for multiple words but not exact, some kind of guide for that? Been trying to do more complex searches but can't seem to get good results. 720p and 1080p, then by date and then a variable + others, etc....

Right now i'll just input basic search words and hope to get good results. Also, why does the search engines search? A DB that the search engine has setup?

Thanks.

actualy those questions are questions for the individual search-websites the different tabs are using because they all have their differences in how they search.

For example i remember for newzleech using !searchstring excludes all results that have searchstring in them...
but i guess hecks should know more about the specific differences than me.

i usualy use pretty wide searchpatterns and afterward the include/exclude filter to filter down further. this way i don't have to do an other search if one filter isn't optimal and i feel i am less likely to miss something. if the number of results for the search is very high i usualy use binsearch/aeton since they allow 1000 results on one page or i go with NLSS which puts up with up to 15000 results...
