Usenetserver has Global search
« on: October 10, 2007, 11:46:56 am »
http://www.usenetserver.com

I have been using this server now for several years and they have included there own news search feature..

As I'm still discovering what alt.binz can do for me there might be a way to make this search work within it, if not, let me know what I might can do to offer any help that it might can be added along with the other search engines listed.  I use newsleach ss and newzbin, but I also use usenetserver's catalog too.

Tx for reading..

It's payed service available only to Usenetserver customers. I don't have access to it so I cannot see if it's addable as a search engine or not.

I used it for about 2 minutes when I last had an active Usenetserver account.  That was enough for me.  Horribly slow and not very functional.

Understand and thanks for looking.

I have found a few thing within their search that did not turn up elsewhere.  Its just one of tricks up the sleeve, but never my first choice.

Actualy FYI its been revised and its called Global search v2 :)
Comparing it with Newzleech the results and the interface look very similar the search speeds are also the same. the only advantage i found was being able to DL really big NZB files fast.

I agree with all the statements.  The original Global Search was slow and clunky and made multi-part posts all separated so you may have to click 50 items to make a nzb.

Version 2 is much, much better, faster, and it does find some things that are not on other searches.  It combines multipart posts making it easier to see and easier to get all parts.

I don't think it is any better than other searches, but it is at least on par with them now and is a good alternative.
