Request: RSS timer check with system clock?
« on: July 08, 2009, 06:12:51 am »
I absolutely love the rss features, and they work really well.
Would it be possible, though, to implement a way for the timer to check whether the system had been turned off, and then refresh back until that time?

For instance, if I have the rss filter running on the timer setting, it works great, but if i hibernate my system, or turn it off (though that shuts down the program too, hibernation doesn't), when I turn in back on, the rss filter will only retrieve the latest few entries, so it often misses some things that were posted in the interim.

Is there any way to make it know how long ago it's last check was, and retrieve all entries back until that timestamp, or something like that?  That way if the system is off for some reason, the filter still doesn't miss anything.

Just an idea.

Thanks for the incredible program!

though the idea isn't bad the catch lies in the details. the problem is that the rss-filter can only be matched against the selected feed at the time that the feed is checked. after a few hours/days the feed simply won't contain the desired article anymore. to prevent missing articles you should choose the maximum amount of articles allowed by the feed. If that isn't enough you could be looking for a source that allows more articles in the feed or use feeds that include searche strings for each filter u wanna match.
