Save / Restore / Reset settings
« on: August 26, 2011, 08:49:40 am »
Hi,

I'm requesting save / restore settings for obvious reasons : in case of a crash, having my settings saved in a zip would avoid me to some troubles to find the settings i had before reinstalling windows. Clicking restore would ask me where my .zip is.
(i do it myself actually, but that would be more noobie friendly to have a button for that ^^)

Reset settings for troubleshooting reason. If i have a random crash and i come to the forum for advice, it'd be easier to tell me : "save your settings, then reset 'em. If trouble goes away, don't restore.." than the usual "delete your abz user directory / where is it? / depends on your windows, etc...."
Reset settings could have 2 level : user data wipes config.abz, full wipes whole directory

Settings can be easily lost under different circumstances (ALL of them - including servers, downloads, individual settings), it happened to me twice in a month after hard PC reset and not very smooth automatic Windows update.

All Altbinz custom folders I keep outside disc C which survived well after PC reset. But C:\User\AppData\Local\Altbinz files all been wiped out and reset to default (modification time = PC restart).

How to change location of C:\User\AppData\Local\Altbinz (to put outside disc C so that to protect them)?

I believe that settings/downloads are not rock solid and their export would be highly desirable feature.
