web based access (if only to monitier)
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:06:06 pm »
ok the feature i missed the most when i went from torrentflux to newsleecher was the web interface.
Now if a full web interface is not possible then can i request email alerts for key events while you are away from home (a toggle button to turn them on or off) i would consider the following event
RSS feed picked up and started a download*
download complete
all downloads complete

* want to realy show off and get this app noticed more? Have the rss notification include the contents of the nfo file of the download if it existsand the option to reply to the app to say stop downloading it (could be done by having alt.binz check the subject lines of your email inbox)

i know im new and im sorry if im asking to much just seems like a good idea to me

so you know how usenet works right?

your speed is constant all the time. When you start a download and then go somewhere else, you can be sure it is done within the right time .You'll see how long it will take on the statusbar.
Same for RSS, you can simply check rss feed online so you know that your desired download was added if it shows up there.
Simple as that

true speed is full but not everybodys net is at a stable speed im in the uk my speed flatuates, also im a control freak i like to know my apps are doing what i want and certainly like the ability to be able to email it and say dont download that if rss find the wrong ones (yes if it downloads the wrong ones its my fault for making the filters wrong )

however i saw the abilitie to request features and requested one that i have long desired in news leecher really didnt expect the reply i got

can't help with symbian os, but if you're going to run it on a wm5/wm6 mobile phone, this is your application for vnc remote stuff
-> http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/

great tool, works perfectly for me :D

Users here will disagree with you, but only Rdl decides what is or is not implemented.  Read around the forum a little and you'll see how it works.

This feature has been requested a few times before, though.  There are some other possibilities for the moment: first, via the altbinz_status.xml file (search forum); second, through the abzQueueReader.dll that another user wrote ... er, i seem to have lost the link for that, someone help me (which reminds me, we need something in the wiki about these); third, using the mIRC script (that's in the wiki).

I'll see if I can put together a small mirc script to reply to a specific CTCP query with the output of the Alt.Binz mirc script. Maybe even the Start/Stop commands. That should be enough since it has everything you want/need, and you have really nice IRC clients for symbian cellphones these days.

I have written a small .net library that can parse the queue.abz file that AltBinz produces. this could be used to build an ASPX based site that shows the current (well ... as closed to) status

If you have AltBinz writing the Queue file every minute then you'll get updates every minute.

Let me know if you're interested.
