Just wanted to know if anybody of you experienced an inability to connect to astraweb, as I cannot connect for some hours now. I was using it fine and in the next moment it didn't work anmore.
This time it cannot be just a wine-error, as I tried WinXP and different newsreader as well. All gave me connection time-outs.

I am using EU servers.I am not at home now, but while i was, there were no problems with astraweb.I checked their news page and there is no mention of EU servers outage.

All fine here.
Clearly there's a problem with routing between some users and Astraweb servers. Those users should open a ticket with Astraweb Support here:

True, but I just wanted to be sure that the problem relies on their (while "their" has a broad meaning ;) ) side and not on mine. I've submitted a ticket, let's see what comes of it.

OK, I've got as an answer that my ISP is supposed to have routing problems. Mine is Kabel Deutschland. I'm gonna check that lead out.

Do tracert to news server

I've sent a request to Kabel Deutschland to have Astraweb's servers unblocked from the blocking server. It more than likely will not get fixed until sometime on Monday. I can connect to ssl-us.astraweb.com, but the speed is painfully slow. Good day.

We have contacted Kabel Deutschland but they have said that they will only listen to their own customers, so they will do nothing unless you contact them. If you are a Kabel Deutschland customer, then you will need to contact their support desk on 01805 / 23 33 25 .
Kabel Deutschland (superkabel.de) users might be unable to access our EU IP range. We are still attempting to determine why. At this stage, it looks like an issue with Kabel Deutschlands BGP propagation.
Affected users, please use our US farm instead. The US farm should be accessible still. Please configure your newsreaders to use:
us.news.astraweb.com
We are working with our various ISPs to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

AstraWeb's EU servers can be accessed now :) They just fixed it...lol

We have temporarily rerouted Kabel Deutschland users. You should be able to connect to our EU farm again. For those still having issues, please continue to contact Kabel Deutschland customer support.

And again, the operative word is "temporarily" ... don't let your ISP off the hook.
